Allergy Relief: 3 Wall Stretches
Allergy Relief: 3 Wall Stretches
1️⃣ Pec Stretch
✔️ How to do it: Stand side-by-side with the wall. Place your palm on the wall, arm extended at shoulder height. Gently turn your chest away and rest your head against the wall. Hold for 10 slow breaths.
✔️ Why it works: Opens lymph-rich tissues in the chest to promote drainage and reduce inflammation. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the lung meridian passes through this area—freeing it may help improve respiratory function and breath depth.
2️⃣ Toe Stretch
✔️ How to do it: Place the ball of your foot on the baseboard, toes pointing straight up the wall. Lean gently into the wall to deepen the stretch across your foot and toes. Hold for 10 counts.
✔️ Why it works: Stimulates acupressure points associated with nasal cavity clearing. Supports lymphatic flow through the foot—an area often prone to fluid retention and stagnation.
3️⃣ Tricep Stretch + Neck Stretch
✔️ How to do it: Stand next to the wall with one foot in front of the other. Bend your elbow behind your head and gently press your tricep against the wall. Use the fingers of that same hand to gently massage the base of your skull.
Why it works: Releases accessory breathing muscles—like the lats, intercostals, and scalenes—improving breath efficiency while easing neck tension.
These stretches are simple, effective, and grounded in both anatomy and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Try adding them to your daily routine—especially during allergy season or when you’re feeling congested.
